Dr. Kalyan Banerjee was born into a family of illustrious doctors, which has had a profound effect on his personal and professional life. A sense of magnanimity and generosity was instilled in him from his childhood, as he watched and assisted his father and uncles in their respective practice. The spirit of generosity and the idea of serving society, cultivated in Dr. Banerjee from his childhood can be seen every day, in his largely charitable practice at the Clinic. Having received his homoeopathic education under the world renowned Prof. Dr. Parimal Banerji at Mihijam, Dr. Kalyan Banerjee set up his private practice in New Delhi under Dr. Parimal Banerji’s guidance, in 1977. During the course of his professional education Dr. Kalyan Banerjee received special training in the management of advanced cases of cancer, organ failure, grand mal seizures, neonatal tetanus, multiple sclerosis, motor neuron disease, Alzheimer’s Disease and other complicated cases beyond the reach of other systems of medicine, under the expert tutelage of Prof. Dr. Parimal Banerji. He has successfully utilized this knowledge in his practice and trained doctors at his Clinic and other interns. From the first day of his practice, 35 years ago, Dr. Banerjee has provided free consultations, without any prejudice or application to everyone who comes for treatment during the free clinic hours and on numerous other occasions. The timings of the free clinic have even stretched to ten or more hours as he tends to the hundreds of patients that queue outside his clinic from different parts of India and beyond.
Besides Prof. Dr. Parimal Banerji and Dr. Kalyan Banerjee, one would be hard pressed to find any other practicing individual physician, of any field, in any part of the world, who is known to have treated, this many patients, for free, every working day for more than thirty five years, without any gratuity, grants, endowments or revenue benefits. In addition to this huge expense that is borne solely by him in a personal capacity, Dr. Kalyan Banerjee has employed additional physicians to assist him in this selfless endeavor. The employees of the clinic, physicians and other staff, are retained by him, at cost, borne by Dr. Kalyan Banerjee personally, to assist and help as many patients as possible, everyday. He is a humanitarian, dedicated to his patients to whom he gives almost every waking hour of his life. He spends large parts of his personal time on the phone, providing solace and support to patients, far beyond a physicians brief. Dr. Kalyan Banerjee has been sought out by distinguished members of society, from all fields, from far flung corners of the planet, for his exemplary practice and calm and unassuming demeanor. Dr. Banerjee has traveled the world, treating patients and continues to do so, on special requests, his busy schedule permitting. Dr. Kalyan Banerjee has been awarded the Padma Shree, one of India’s highest civilian honours, in 2009 for distinguished service in the field of medicine. He is the only homeopath in the history of the award to have been given this rare honour by the President of India, in the field of medicine. Dr. Kalyan Banerjee serves as an Honorary Member of The Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India. He is also an Honorary Member of the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia Committee and The Standing Finance Committee of the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy. In addition to these coveted positions, he holds numerous posts in a large number of organizations related to scientific research, homoeopathy and charitable activities. |
